Study of effect of cervus nippon temminck aqua - acupuncture on the hypothyroidism induced by thiourea in rats

Abstract

|
In order to investigate the effect of Cervus nippon Temminck(CNT) aqua-acupuncture on the thyroidism in rats, 0.6 % thiourea solution was administered per oral to induce hypothyroidism and a series of CNT aqua-acupuncture treatments were done into the locus corresponding to Kyun jung(GB_(21)), Shin su(BL_(23)) And Bland loci(non-acupunture points at the root of rail in rats) of the body.
The level of serum T₃, T₄, and total cholesterol were measured.
The following were obtained.
1. The level of serum T₃was increased by CNT aqua-acupuncture to Kyunjung and Sin su respectively compared with the control group. The increase in T₃) level was more with CNT aqua-acupuncture to Kyun jung than Shin su. But bland loci did not cause any valuable changes.
2. The level of serum T₄was increased by CNT aqua-acupuncture to Kyunjung and Sin su respectively compared with the control group. However, bland lici at the root of tail did not cause any significant changes.
3. Total Cholesterol was decreased by CNT aqua-acupuncture to Kyun jung and Sin su respectively compared with the control group. Showing that CNT aqua-acupuncture to Shin su was more effective than Kyun jung on the serum total cholesterol level. But no significant changes appeared in case of CNT aqua-acupuncture to bland loci.
According to the above results, it is concluded that CNT aqua-acupunture to Kyun jung and Shinsu respectively has significance on the hypothyroidism induced by thiourea in rats.
Therefore, CNT aqua-acupuncture seems to be applicable to disease related to thypothroidism in clinics.
